Which hunter pet is best in WoW Forever?

This lookup compares recorded abilities and diets; it does not measure damage or rank pets for PvE or PvP. Start with the ability your playstyle needs, check its level requirement, then compare the rest of that family’s toolkit. A Changed label alone does not mean a pet is stronger.

Can I find where to tame a pet here?

This page covers pet families and abilities. It does not list individual beasts, taming locations or spawn times. A family appearing in the client records does not confirm that a tameable creature is currently available.

Whose level does the box use?

The pet level that rank asks for. It is separate from your hunter level on the talent calculator.

Why are 19 families listed when some guides say 18?

This page keeps every diet family from the current client extract, including Core Hound. Guides that list 18 leave that row out. Fox is the family the Classic Era extract does not have. This page does not say which families can be tamed.

What does unknown mean on a rank?

No pet level was recorded for that rank. It stays visible when you filter, and it is not shown as level 0. An ability can also say effect unknown when the checked guides did not print what it does.
