How this comparison works
What this page compares
The current side is the talent snapshot on this site: 17 September preview export, phase demo, no published client build number. Classic is the 1.12 tooltip we store for that cell, not a later expansion tree and not a Beta patch-to-patch diff.
Changelog logs our data revisions and site work. Updates is reserved for sourced game or preview-data changes. This page asks a different question: which recorded talents differ from Classic in a way a reviewer can point at a public source.
The recap also states a new 16-point milestone and that Divine Spirit, Blessing of Kings, and Improved Mark of the Wild became baseline. Those are not talent cards here. Baseline spells sit on Abilities. A milestone is a tree rule, not one node we can open in the calculator.
Why only Paladin notes
Hundreds of talents are tagged new, changed, or moved in the import. Most of those tags still need a locatable source, a comparable rank, or both. We publish a card after a reviewer can show the official sentence and the recorded tooltip side by side. Paladin is first because the Deep Dive recap is the public document that names those tools. Other classes wait for the same kind of source, not for a guessed nine-class dump.
How to read a card
- New
- Classic had no talent in this role. The recap names the new tool; the card quotes the recorded rank we compared.
- Effect
- The same cell exists in Classic. The recap describes a redesign; the card keeps Classic and Forever text visible and says when the stored Classic line is a different rank.
- Moved
- The talent changed tree, row, or column. None of these notes are moves.

Holy
2
Improved Holy Strike New
New Holy talent that cuts Holy Strike cooldown.
Paladin · Holy · Compared rank 2
Current tooltip · Sourced rankReduces the cooldown of your Holy Strike ability by 2 sec.
Classic tooltipNo Classic talent in this role.
Classic Paladin trees had no Holy Strike talent to improve. The official Deep Dive recap names Improved Holy Strike as a Holy tool that reduces Holy Strike cooldown. Recorded rank 2 matches that design at a 2-second reduction. Rank 1 is recorded as 1 second and is not this card. The recap does not publish the 2-second figure.

Paladin · Holy · Compared rank 3
Current tooltip · Sourced rankAllows 30% of your Mana regeneration to continue while casting.
Classic tooltipNo Classic talent in this role.
Classic Paladin trees had no Reverence talent. The recap describes it as letting Paladins regenerate Mana from Spirit while casting. Recorded rank 3 matches that design at 30% of Mana regeneration continuing while casting. All three ranks are now recorded at 10%, 20%, and 30%. This card compares rank 3. The recap does not publish the 30% figure.

Protection
2
Reckoning Effect
Same Protection cell. Now also procs from blocks.
Paladin · Protection · Compared rank 5
Current tooltip · Sourced rankGives you a 40% chance to gain an extra attack after Blocking a melee attack and a 100% chance to gain an extra attack after being the victim of a non-periodic critical strike.
Classic tooltipGives you a 20% chance to gain an extra attack after being the victim of a critical strike.
Reckoning stays in Protection row 5, column 3. The Classic tooltip we store describes only an extra attack after a critical strike, using 20% wording. Forever rank 5 keeps a critical-strike proc and adds a separate 40% chance after a block. The recap states Reckoning was redesigned so tanks immune to critical hits can still trigger it from blocks. This card compares that mechanism. The stored Classic line is not Forever rank 5 numeric counterpart, so do not read 20% versus 100% as a same-rank rewrite.

Iron Creed New
New talent. Holy Strike cuts incoming damage while Righteous Fury is up.
Paladin · Protection · Compared rank 4
Current tooltip · Sourced rankIncreases the threat generated by your Holy Strike ability 20%. While Righteous Fury is active, Holy Strike also reduces your damage taken by 8% for 6 sec.
Classic tooltipNo Classic talent in this role.
Classic trees had no Iron Creed talent. The recap says timed Holy Strikes reduce incoming damage for a short window. Recorded rank 4 matches the damage-taken reduction while Righteous Fury is active: Holy Strike also reduces damage taken by 8% for 6 seconds and adds 20% Holy Strike threat. The tooltip does not say “timed”; the reduction is on Holy Strike while Righteous Fury is up. All five ranks are now recorded. This card compares rank 4. The recap does not publish those percentages.

Recorded rank 3 matches that design at up to 100% of Intellect and also includes healing. All three ranks are now recorded at 33%, 66%, and 100%. This card compares rank 3. The recap does not publish the percentage.
