Some of the biggest Mage changes are trained spells rather than talents. These 3 notes come from the level 60 Beta spellbook; each one links to the talents that reference it. Ranks and levels can still change before launch.
Comprehend ScrollNew
A small utility spell learned at level 6 that deciphers an untranslated scroll.
Frostfire BoltNew
A 3 sec bolt that counts as both Fire and Frost: it deals Frostfire damage, slows movement by 40% and applies a 9 sec Frostfire DoT. Three ranks, first trained at 40.
Frost BlastNew
Learned at levels 24, 36 and 48. A 1.5 sec cast that deals Frost damage and slows movement by 40% for 9 sec. Benefits from talents that affect Frostbolt.

How to plan WoW Forever Mage talents
Plan WoW Forever Mage talents around recorded effects. Ice Lance deals 200% more damage to Frozen targets; Shatter adds 17% critical chance against Frozen targets at rank 1, and Fingers of Frost treats targets as Frozen. Each Arcane Blast grants 15% of your Intellect as Spell Damage, stacking up to 4 times. Trace your tree’s prerequisites.
Set your level and budget
Decide the level before you spend WoW Forever Mage talents: 21 points at level 30, 51 at level 60, and all three trees share that budget. Arcane Power, Combustion and Ice Barrier each need 30 points in earlier rows of their tree, so a 51-point plan reaches one of them with 20 points to spare; a 21-point plan reaches none.

Reach the later rows
A row unlocks after 5 points in earlier rows of the same tree for every row after the first, so later WoW Forever Mage talents are gated by their own tree. Frost keeps its cooldowns mid-tree: Ice Block in row four, Cold Snap in row five, and Ice Barrier in row seven. Back out by refunding dependants before their prerequisite, or reset the tree.

How do WoW Forever Mage talents differ from Classic?
The preview flags 7 Mage talents as new and 35 as changed. Arcane Mind now grants 2% Intellect and 20% Arcane critical damage instead of 2% Mana, and Improved Counterspell always silences for 2 sec rather than half the time for 4. Compare to Classic shows the previous text beside the new.
Are all talent ranks verified?
